Studio lighting plays a huge role in portrait and fashion photography, and most photographers will need to learn about it at some point in their career.
It is essential to know how to start with a simple set up and develop it to get a more creative lighting.
In this hands-on workshop we will start off with one light setup, using different modifiers, practising with a professional model, and work our way up to two lights. We will talk about basics of lighting, different modifiers and explain their differences and use.
This fun and exciting workshop is geared towards photographers with a basic understanding of studio lighting and intermediate portrait photographers who are looking for in-depth knowledge and information.
What to Learn
- Basics of lighting, distance, direction, and size of the light and their effect
- Working with a single light, and building up to two lights.
- Knowing about different light modifiers
- Basic lighting patterns – Rembrandt lighting, Butterfly lighting, Loop lighting, Split lighting, Clamshell lighting, Short/Broad lighting
- Separating the subject from the background with rim lighting
- Lighting the background
- The art of directing your model for portrait and fashion photographs
What To Bring
- Your camera
- One or two lenses – 50mm, 24-70mm, 70-200 are recommended but not essential
- Memory cards
- Spare battery and/or your camera charger
TERMS
- Images taken during the workshop can only be used for your portfolio (online and social platforms), but please hashtag #intolightworkshop2022.
- Images must not be used by attendees commercially, to advertise photo shoots, or promote anything that is a professional service or products. You would need a model release to do that and you won’t have one.
- You cannot submit images to magazines, exhibitions or competitions
- Cancellation: Free cancellation more than 10 days before the workshop.
